For the fourth time since its inception, we had the delight to conceptualise, plan and execute Stora Enso's biannual packaging design competition, Recreate Packaging. For the 2023 edition, designers were tasked with tackling a major global issue in food waste – one of the most significant contributors to greenhouse gases worldwide.
The concept, named "A wasted opportunity," challenged participants to innovate packaging solutions that reduced food waste in food packaging – using Stora Enso materials, of course. While internally, the design challenge was visualising "ugly" food waste in a commercially appealing way.
